Welcome
We have evolved with the Simmental breed and have been instrumental in challenging what genetics can do. The Simmental breed had goals and an agenda called “Focus 2000,” of what our association thought could help the Simmental breed. When “Focus 2000” hit, we were already there with black, moderate, easy calving, phenotypically beautiful cattle. The proof of this is 2001 – the Simmental heifer called S&S SAHARA out of DSC MR. DUNK and HARTS BLACK OASIS. We had bred the dam to DSC MR DUNK and the Schaeffer family (Tim & Paul), purchased the dam of S&S. When they bought her, we made arrangements to buy her first heifer calf and we did it over the phone without even seeing her. The rest is history! She won Grand Champion at Eastern Nationals, Keystone International, West Virginia State Fair, and the North American Junior Show. Her first calf was a bull, SVJ POWER SURGE, who we sold half interest to Dave Nichols of Nichols Farm in Bridgewater, Iowa.
We believe in being on the cutting edge of genetics. One of our major goals is to produce those great females and bulls for the junior programs. Helping young people get started and achieve success in the Simmental breed is very rewarding. We have been blessed to raise and exhibit Simmental cattle across the United States with success, and market our genetics through a variety of settings.
We close this opening state with a quote from a longtime friend, cattleman, auctioneer, and most of all, a great American – Col. John Spiker, “I love the business.”
We invite you to contact us at anytime if we can answer any questions concerning the SVJ program and utilizing our genetics in your operation.
